Telecommunications Act 1997

• require the Australian Communications and Media Authority to make a service provider determination in relation to minimum power requirements at high risk sites

Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999

• enable the minister to make rules requiring temporary disaster roaming in certain circumstances
• provide that the provision of telecommunications services during natural disasters is an eligible purpose for which public interest telecommunications grants may be made
